Abstract

Distal renal tubular acidosis is characterized by a decrease in net hydrogen ion secretion from renal collecting tubules. The most common causes of distal renal tubular acidosis in adults are autoimmune disorders, such as Sjogren syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, and rheumatoid arthritis. Compared to other autoimmune disorders, the concurrence of renal tubular acidosis and autoimmune thyroid disease is extremely rare. We report a patient who presented with hypokalemic paralysis associated with Graves¡¯ disease and distal renal tubular acidosis.(Korean J Med
